Jenice Armstrong: PNKElephant: An inexpensive bling spot
June 15, 2011
Sandlain (left) and Frink in their “glam and fashion forward” store, at 5th and South…
PNKELEPHANT’s jewelry is big and bold. The earrings are edgy – one pair is connected by a long chain that hangs beneath the wearer’s chin like a necklace.
But what I really like – no, love – about PNKElephant, the new jewelry boutique co-owned by Michael Vick‘s fiancee, is that you can get a lot of bling without it costing big bucks. Most items go for less than $25.
If I sound like a fan, it’s because I am. I have been ever since having lunch with Kijafa Frink and noticing one of PNKElephant’s bracelets jangling on her wrist.
It looked expensive – just what you’d expect a baller’s fiancee to wear. I was startled when she told me it was less than $20.

So My Family calls me the “QUEEN OF CHUNK JUNK” because for as long as I, and they can remember, I’ve been dripped…. Mr. T style! Haha .. and while I’d love to take the humble approach it’s no secret that I’ve been doing it waaaaay before and after the tide trends shift. So … QUEEN ME! Lol
Ok… it’s not totally true that I deserve all the credit for my accessories talent. My Mother was my first teacher.
She has ALWAYS been extremely stylish, wearing unique pieces of jewelry and creating a look of her own that stands out in any crowd, at any event!!
I’m pretty sure my first love affair began when she would take me to the Indian Pow Wow in Sag Harbor, Long Island where I spent EVERY Summer since I was a fetus in her womb. We “Pow wow’d” year after year until I was tall enough for my little head to see over the table. And then it began….. “Pleeeeeease Mommy can you buy me this!!!!” Lol I had to have every ring, necklace, moccasin and Native American head band they offered. Unlike the other kids who wanted instruments, toys and noisemakers made with beads and feathers to play with… I was more infatuated with the feathers I could adorn on myself like the women all dressed up there. I guess that is why I have an affection for that culture to this day huh? Shout out to Sag for those good ole days! And a very special Thank You to my stylish MOMMY!!! xoxox
As for the rest of my childhood accessories days, those stories could go on for miles but my Mother had quite a battle with me and my passion for “Chunk Junk”! Would you believe I used to attempt to wear a ring on EVERY finger at the SAME time in the 3rd grade?!? LOL I “tried” to appeal to my Mother that just one or two made NO statement at all… of course she made me take them off. (rolling my eyes at her…. I was on to something Mother! Rihanna does it now!)
Boy do I digress… Moving right along, there IS a method to my madness because I come bearing gifts!!!… a Gem I discovered just in time for your holiday parties and Great Great gifts!.
A friend of mine and fellow Hamptonian (shout out the Real H.U.! ) has the most FABULOUS Jewelry line at even better prices!!!!!! She’s doing really well and since this IS my forte, I absolutely had to get in on the cosign…. Let me know what you think?!
It’s Called PNK ELEPHANT (no “i” in Pink) and here’s my favorite’s… (CLICK LINK TO READ FULL STORY, AND VIEW PICTURES http://blogs.essence.com/the_fresh_hotel/2010/11/queen-me-fresh.php)
